Monterey PKC is Cancelled
Regrettably we must relay the news that the upcoming #prokartchallenge race scheduled for April 4th and 5th will be canceled, based on the Covid-19 mitigation efforts mandated by the state of California.

Naturally, the safety and health of our karting community comes first and everyone within the SKUSA ranks is gutted to say the least. The entire #motorsports community has been turned upside down by this, and we share in your frustrations and feeling of helplessness.

We are working hard to secure future dates and to get our arms around what the future holds for the rest of 2020. We’re all anxious to get back to doing what we love ASAP.

Official Statement From IAME USA Regarding 2021 Updates To New X30 Pipe And X30 Configuration
As many may remember, with the reconfiguration of the IAME distribution in North America in 2014, we put forth a commitment to freeze the engine configuration for seven years. This coming 2021 racing season will be our seventh year (*after a one-year grace period for COVID-19.) We have listened to our engine builders and customers and will be offering the following changes moving forward in 2021. This introduction also comes in connection with the struggle to get these older models during COVID-19.

Before implementing these changes moving forward we want to remind everyone of the impetus for any such changes. As we pledged in 2014, reliability and customer satisfaction remain our guiding principles here at IAME USA. Any new ideas are in the interest of those two facets, and as always — the motivation for introducing any such change is always parity and value for the racer.

The Ocala Gran Prix circuit played host to the final round of the Superkarts! USA Winter Series over the weekend and crowned the program’s inaugural champion following Sunday’s action on the 0.6-mile, eight-turn circuit in Florida. The new Kart Republic operation earned its first championship after debuting at last November’s SuperNationals, thanks to an impressive four-round combined performance from Lorenzo Travisanutto. The 18-year-old Italian topped the 34-kart X30 Senior category on Saturday, sweeping the day, and then added a third on Sunday to secure the class championship. Fellow Kart Republic driver Brandon Jarsocrak made his debut on the chassis this weekend for KartSport North America and completed the sweep of the mains for KR, winning on Sunday. Musgrave Racing Company’s Billy Musgrave (Aluminos) was the only S1 Pro Stock Honda driver to compete in both weekends, which automatically gave him the title, while Rory van der Steur (FA) topped the combined Stock Honda field on Sunday to win the day and the class championship in the S2 Semi-Pro Stock Honda category. The X30 Junior battle was hard-fought, bordering on reckless at times, and when the dust had settled, Team Montoya’s Sebastian Montoya (TonyK art) used a pair of podium finishes to win the title. EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25 – Preview Series – X30 Junior

The Touch and Go (TaG) engine platform took the USA karting scene by storm in the early 2000s, but it was not until 2008 that Superkarts! USA introduced the Junior category to the SuperNationals. Since then, 13 different drivers have claimed victory on SuperSunday – including two current Formula 1 drivers (George Russell in 2011 and Lance Stroll in 2012). Logan Sargeant won the class in 2014 before becoming the only USA driver to win the FIA World Championship in Junior competitionin 2015. Now, he’s set to be on the grid in F1 for 2023. Others make this list a very well-established group of former winners, including last year’s victor Jeremy Fletcher, who became only the second driver in SuperNationals history to win twice in the same event – taking the top honors in both KA100 and X30 Junior. Multiple First Winners at ProKart Challenge 2020 Opener

The 16th season of the ProKart Challenge kicked off this past weekend at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park. A perfect two days of weather on February 29 and March 1 greeted the competitors to the Buttonwillow, California facility, beginning the run for a piece of the ‘pie’ – a $120,000 prize package for the 2020 season. The opening round of the six-race championship program welcomed a number of first-time winners at the season opener.

A stacked field of 22 KA100 Senior drivers – the largest class of the weekend – included a great mix of new series competitors and SKUSA veterans. Dante Yu was able to record a sweep in his class debut. The former SKUSA Pro Tour championship podium finisher set fast time in qualifying with a 52.004-lap, edging out SKUSA Pro Tour National #2 plate holder Nick Ramirez and Derek Morton by a total of 74 thousandths. That was the closest anyone was to Dante for the remainder of the event. He went on to win the Prefinal by over three seconds, before leading all 22 laps in the Final for his first victory. Trey Brown closed the gap in the main event, finishing only nine-tenths back, with Michael Michoff setting fast lap of the race in his third place podium finish. Jacob Yesnick and Christopher Martin completed the top-five.
