Superkarts! USA Releases Winter Series Venues and Class Structure

Having officially announced the formation and dates for their new Florida Winter Series back in June, Superkarts! USA is excited to confirm the venues and class structure for the two-weekend schedule. The season will begin on January 12-14 at AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex and will cap at Ocala Grand Prix on February 9-11. The series will feature four full days of racing over the two weekends, with Saturday and Sunday main events at both Homestead and Ocala. The series will feature Stock Honda and IAME categories, in addition to a local option Briggs 206 Senior class.

“It’s really exciting for all of us at Superkarts! USA to return the SKUSA name to winter competition in Florida,” admitted Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA CEO. “Don Janowski and Jim Murley launched the first Florida Winter Tour in 1998 before handing over the reigns over to Bill Wright, so this new expansion of our national program is taking SKUSA back to its roots. That’s exciting. We’re pleased to be able to work with the ownership groups at both Homestead and Ocala for our maiden voyage in Florida, and I’m certain that the series will become a cornerstone of our national program. I’m happy that this series will provide our East Coast customers with the opportunity to run two additional SKUSA races in 2018, ahead of the three Pro Tour events.”

California ProKart Challenge Set to Host Double Header Weekend in Fontana

The California ProKart Challenge is preparing for a return to the track after two months off following the 2019 opening event at Buttonwillow. The flagship regional program for Superkarts! USA returns to the site of the 2019 SKUSA Pro Tour WinterNationals with a unique and first ever dual-round weekend, as Rounds Two and Three will be contested on the June 7-9 weekend at the CalSpeed Karting facility. Competitors will compete in a similar format to the Pro Tour, with optional practice on Friday, and then two separate race days on Saturday and Sunday. The track layout will be different from the March weekend, with competitors set to battle around the ‘Tecnico’ circuit. The weather is forecasted to be perfect racing weather, and the turnout is expected to be the biggest of the season.

The 2019 California ProKart Challenge kicked off its season at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on March 30-31. A number of drivers swept the action for the opening round, including reigning SKUSA SuperNationals winner Billy Musgrave. The five-time California PKC champion went unchallenged in the Croc Promotion USA/Mad Old Nut Pro Shifter category. Add in Micah Hendricks in the Musgrave Racing Company Pro Shifter 2 division, John Crow in the Alpinestars G1 Gladiator class, Nick George in S4 Master Stock Moto, Brett Harrelson in Bell Helmets S4 Super Master Stock Moto, Stuart Hayner in AiM Sports X30 Super Master, and defending IAME USA West Micro Swift champion Graham Trammell. All seven will attempt to continue their streak in the P1 position through the double race weekend in Fontana.

SuperNats24: Mission Possible - SuperKarts! Announces Forced Venue And Host Hotel Change For Upcoming SKUSA SuperNationals December 01-05, 2021

After many days of speculation, Superkarts! USA can finally confirm that they have been forced to change venues and host hotel for the upcoming SKUSA SuperNationals 24. The move comes on the heels of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino electing to cancel their longstanding contract for 2021, just days before the scheduled event.

With an enforceable contract in hand, SKUSA pursued legal remedies to fight the hotel’s cancellation, including filing motions for a cease and desist and legal injunctions to prevent their termination of the contract.

“A courtroom is never a place any promoter wants to find themselves,” explained a frustrated Tom Kutscher. “While SKUSA’s legal team was confident the courts would uphold our contract and the Rio would be forced to honor the deal, the regrettable truth is that there are never guarantees in any lawsuit. With an entire industry reliant upon this race for revenue, it became increasingly harder to hold out for lawyers to do their thing. My worst nightmare was a scenario where we had no time to pursue an alternative plan in the off-chance courts didn’t rule our way. The race must take place, no matter what!”

As a result of the canceled contract, SKUSA has worked around the clock to find a suitable alternative — in Las Vegas, that had enough space to accommodate a proper SuperNationals. The venue had to accommodate a racetrack with 500+ drivers and supporting space for event infrastructure. This proved to be no easy feat, considering the short notice and other unrelated events in town the same weekend. After careful consideration, and with safety as the guiding factor, SKUSA can confirm they will be moving this year’s SuperNationals to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

EKN Trackside: 2019 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals – Sunday Report

The 10th annual Superkarts! USA SummerNationals are now an exciting chapter in the organization’s history, and the final round of the 2019 Pro Tour was waged on Sunday at New Castle Motorsports Park. The event was treated with almost perfect mid-August Indiana weather and the new track configuration helped to provide the stage for some tremendous racing and, of course, the crowning of SKUSA’s newest national champions. Rolison Performance Group’s Ryan Norberg made history, securing his fourth straight championship in the X30 Senior category, truly an unparalleled accomplishment in the 25-plus years of SKUSA competition. Norberg finished second to Mike Doty Racing’s Brandon Jarsocrak in an wild finish that had to be seen to be believed, but Ryan’s recovery from a lacklustre WinterNationals was the stuff of legend. In the Pro Shifter class, we witnessed the newest chapter in the emergence of Kyle Wick as the top driver in the sport, as the CRG Nordam pilot completed a strong and consistent season to secure the national championship and the national #1 plate for 2020. The Croc Promotion USA duo of Jake French and Billy Musgrave dominated the weekend with a pair of 1-2 finishes, with French re-establishing himself as a true shifterkart star, but it was Wick’s run of six consistent finishes that earned him a well-deserved title. The 2019 California ProKart Challenge began its season with the opening round held at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, California under welcome sunny skies. The March 30-31 event was the first of the 15-year celebration for the Superkarts! USA regional program, and marked a new change in format that also seemed to be a big hit with both new and seasoned California PKC racers. The action was held on Saturday-Sunday and featured the new Qualifying-Prefinal-Final structure. Portions of the $120,000, the largest prize package in series history, were handed out on the weekend as 120 competitors contested the first of six rounds toward the championships in the 16 categories.
