Hurricane Harvey Fundraiser Set for Dallas Karting Complex This Weekend

Dallas Karting Complex is set to host a 'Texas Strong' fundraiser event this weekend

The United States has been hit over the past few weeks by a number of weather related disasters. The first was Hurricane Harvey, which reached the Texas ocean shores along the Gulf of Mexico on August 25. The amount of rain brought on by the storm caused massive flooding for the Houston area and the city continues to bounce back during what is expected to be a long cleanup and rebuilding process.

Dallas Karting Complex, nearly 300 miles north of the Houston, is doing its part to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. A FREE, two-day karting event will be held on September 16-17 to help raise funds with all proceeds going towards ‘Texas Strong’ relief effort. All entries are free along with spectators, with registration providing the opportunity to donate to the ‘Texas Strong’ relief effort through MotorsportsReg.com. At-track registration/donation will also be permitted.

The fifth season of the two event, four round championship will take place at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires facility in Homestead, Florida.

The 7/10-mile circuit has undergone some updates in recent weeks, including new curbing and exit sections revised, with the counter-clockwise direction utilized for the opening weekend for the 2022 SKUSA Winter Series. Wednesday and Thursday are unofficial practice with Friday hosting five official sessions for testing. Round 1 is set for Saturday, including qualifying, Prefinal and Final. Round 2 is a repeat format on Sunday.

What is considered to be the ‘Spring Training’ for the upcoming season, the SKUSA Winter Series is the opportunity for select drivers either graduating up a division, or finding a new home to work out the kinks and get ready for the busy summer schedule. It has been over two months since the California ProKart Challenge program was trackside. After the lengthy time off, the Superkarts! USA regional series is set for a return to the Santa Maria Karting Association facility for the penultimate round of the championship program. The Santa Maria, California facility on the ‘K’ track configuration is the site of Round Five on September 10-11 in the six-round championship series schedule. EKN Trackside: 2022 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals – Sunday Report

A sweeping performance for AJ Myers in his second victory on the season in Pro Shifter (Photo: EKN)

The 2022 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour saw the final chapter written on Sunday with the last day of the SummerNationals completed at the New Castle Motorsports Park. Another picture-perfect day greeted the more than 200 entries in the eight categories to bring the weekend at the New Castle, Indiana facility to an end. The sixth and final round of the 13th championship season decided the final four title winners with four drivers securing their crown on Saturday. Only two new winners added their names to the list for the 2022 season while five others repeated their victories from the previous day.

EKN Shifterkart Driver Rankings #1 AJ Myers (Magik Kart USA) showed why he has held that position for the many months with another sweeping performance added to his CV in the PSL Karting Pro Shifter division. Myers set fast time in qualifying and led every lap of the Prefinal. Grabbing the holeshot, Myers pace the field the entire 18-lap distance for his second victory of the season, locking in the #2 position in the championship. The top spot was secured Saturday with Marijn Kremers (PSL / Birel ART) picking up his third victory on the season. The 2019 FIA Karting World Champion in KZ set fast time in the Final, driving to second after getting shuffled back to seventh at the start. The fight for third went down to the wire with Jake French (PSL / Birel ART) and Billy Musgrave (Factory Karts) going back and forth. French crossed the line ahead for the position but suffered a pushback bumper penalty that placed him fifth. That promoted the four-time SuperNationals winner to the podium in third and Tahlon Yockel (Magik Kart USA) to fourth. Hannah Greenemeier (RPG / LN Racing Kart) was hard charger, up 17 spots to sixth.
